NEW FOR 2026!
This is a beautiful kūmara which was a chance mutation from the variety Candy. Five years ago one plant produced tubers which were different from the usual Candy with skin that was more yellow than pink. Joseph has grown these since then and the yellow has remained. He named them Kōwhai Candy to reflect their colour and their origin.
They have smooth skin which is more yellow than pink with flesh that is also more yellow than the Candy but still with some purple flecks. The texture is slightly dryer than Candy. A good cropper that produces many large tubers but also many smooth fingerlings (hekerau) which interestingly retain the pink Candy colour and are fabulous cleaned and then roasted whole. Has a bushy growth habit with medium length runners.
